This work was made in a unique location in northern Iceland in February 2024, a place covered in snow and darkness, surrounded by volcanic formations, and bordering the Greenland Sea. It was the ideal environment to concentrate on my drawing and moving-image project about hypnagogia which I conceived at the end of 2023. Engaging with this semi-conscious state between wakefulness and sleep was facilitated by the otherworldly surroundings and isolation of the NES Artist Residency in Skagaströd. The work produced during that time included film, photography, and sound recordings of the ever changing ice. Iceland's singular ambience inspired me to draw in an almost dream-like state transcribing on paper memories of half-asleep dreamscapes.
