photographic spaces

Photographic Spaces is a series of drawings based on my family photo archive from the 1940s and 1950s. Deconstructing the photographs as I would historical documents, I chose to represent certain details of the image's composition, thus destabilising its sanctity. Redirecting the eye on the photograph's hidden-in-plain site elements, or distorting the proportions of a body, a new speculative narrative is created. Most of the drawings are small in size, made on waxed paper bags or waste paper.
