LITO APOSTOLAKOU

Domestic interiors are remembered, dreamt of, reimagined and relived in an immersive installation by Ali Darke and Lito Apostolakou. Small and large-scale edifices – rooms, dwellings and objects - made of fabric and cardboard combined with drawings, texts, sound, light and projections engage the viewer in the intimate lives of spaces and their embodied and intangible presence in an environment which teeters on the edge of a daydream.

As representations of a preserved or lost original, these precarious structures born of mental events open “a gap or a hole in the real” and direct the gaze to an unrequited desire for wholeness.
